Our History
In the late 1940s a group of younger members of the United Methodist Church in the Rio Grande Conference formed an organization to be known as the Young Adults. For a few years, the group met in the Sandia Mountains of Albuquerque for their annual summer meeting. In 1949, these gatherings were moved to Sacramento Camp so that their families could be included.

Four generations later, camp attenders still make the yearly trek to camp, traveling by all kinds of transport and in various groupings. For some, this was and is the only summer vacation they take. Families of all types, from young honeymooners, to brand new parents, grandparents and great grandparents, to extended family and invited guests, have made getting to and participating in camp a yearly priority!

We thank our "founders" for creating the legacy we call Family Camp. We hope that we will be as faithful going forward to preserve the legacy for upcoming generations.
